Mari was born and raised in the Bronx, New York, moved to Denver in 2004 and currently lives in Arvada with her husband, son, and two dogs. She obtained a Bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University in Human Development and Elementary Education and has worked as a classroom teacher for Denver Public Schools. Mari is certified as an English Language Acquisition teacher through the University of Colorado Denver. She also works part time for Scholars Unlimited as an after school elementary Reading Intervention Teacher.
She spends her days chasing after and teaching her inquisitive toddler. Working at Coal Creek Adult Education Center as an ESL teacher has awoken a passion for working with adults students. Both her parents immigrated to the United States and learned English, which has given her a lot of respect and admiration for people that want to learn English and improve their lives. Having been raised bilingual, Mari values the importance and the benefits of knowing two languages. In her spare time she enjoys reading, hiking, and going to museums.
